Generation 2.0 (G2RED)

Greece

Generation 2.0 for Rights, Equality & Diversity (G2RED) is a nonprofit organisation consisting of people with different origins who work together to promote equal participation in a diverse society, through the empowerment of communities. We combine action and research, aiming to promote human rights, equality and diversity, fight racism, xenophobia and discrimination in general.

Mission and Values

With extensive expertise in migration and citizenship issues, and experience in advocacy, legal and job counselling as well as community engagement, G2RED has evolved into a key member of the Greek civil society. G2RED started off in 2006 as ‘Second Generation’, an informal group of young people born and raised in Greece by immigrant parents, which advocated successfully for their right to acquire Greek citizenship. Currently, G2RED consists of individuals from diverse backgrounds who share the common vision that all of us have the right to participate equally and actively in a society that respects diversity.

There are three Pillars of Acton for G2RED: Legal Counselling, Employability Services and Advocacy. Through legal counselling, we provide daily free legal aid to members of migrant communities on citizenship and legal status issues. Under our Employability Services, we address the employability needs of second-generation migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Under our Employability Services, the “Diversity in the Workplace” initiative supports private-sector actors in their effort to create an inclusive and equitable workplace. Our Advocacy efforts focus on upholding migrant rights, equal treatment and active participation of migrants within our society through campaigning, awareness raising and advocating for legal and policy changes.
